People are carrying so much right now. There are global things we worry about like the economy, peace in the Middle East, elections, antisemitism, the weather…and there are personal things we don’t even say out loud. Personal Stress. Loneliness. Uncertainty. Questions about identity. Questions about the future.
And so people come looking for a place where there is warmth, comfort, and a little light when things feel heavy. They connect, they celebrate, the grow as a community, feeling stronger, knowing who they are and their place in the world.
That light doesn’t appear on its own. Someone has to make it happen. Someone has to keep the doors open, the meals ready, the menorah burning, and the learning going. Someone has to make sure every person who walks in finds strength instead of more noise.
That someone is you.
Your gift is what turns a dark week into a bright one. It turns a simple moment into a memory. It gives people courage when they’re low and belonging when they feel unsure.
This is what Chanukah teaches us: you light the candle even when it looks like you don’t have enough. You show up. You push forward. And the light grows.
Right now, our community needs that light. And you can help bring it.
With gratitude,
Rabbi Moshe & Sheina Caytak
