Our Mission
At the Chabad Jewish Centre of Wellington West, our mission is to create a warm, welcoming space for every Jew — regardless of background, affiliation, or level of observance. No labels. No judgment. Just community.
We believe that Judaism belongs to every Jew, and we’re here to help you explore it in a way that’s meaningful and personal. Whether you're looking to learn, celebrate, connect, or simply feel at home, Chabad offers a place where tradition meets openness and joy.
Through engaging programs for adults, children, and families alike, we bring Jewish life to life — with learning, laughter, spirituality, and heart. Our approach is inclusive and soulful, helping you discover the beauty of Judaism and your unique place within it.
Chabad is more than a center — it's a community. And for many, it becomes a home.

Meet Rabbi Moshe & Sheina Caytak
In the summer of 2022, Rabbi Moshe and Sheina Caytak moved to Ottawa to establish Chabad of Wellington West. With a warm, welcoming spirit and a deep dedication to Jewish life, they — along with their two young children — are building a vibrant and inclusive Jewish community in the heart of Wellington West.
Since its founding, hundreds of families have connected with Chabad of Wellington West through dynamic events, engaging educational programs for all ages, meaningful social services, and joyful celebrations that bring people together.
Rabbi Moshe Caytak
Born and raised in Ottawa, Rabbi Moshe Caytak brings a strong connection to the local community and a passion for Jewish learning and outreach. He studied in rabbinical schools across the U.S., Israel, and the U.K., and received his ordination from Rabbi Yitzchak Yaroslavsky, Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Malachi, Israel. He later earned his Dayanut (Rabbinical Judge status) under Rabbi Zalman Labkowsky, Rosh Yeshiva of the central Chabad Yeshiva in Brooklyn, NY.
Rabbi Moshe has been active in Jewish outreach from a young age, regularly returning to Ottawa during his student years to run holiday programs and community events. Today, he continues that passion through adult education, youth engagement, and media appearances, including features on CTV News Ottawa and other outlets. He’s proud to once again call Ottawa home, helping to build a strong and soulful Jewish presence in the city.
Mrs. Sheina Caytak
Sheina Caytak was raised in the Seine-et-Marne region of France, where her parents direct a thriving Chabad Centre. Deeply involved in community life from a young age, Sheina developed a lifelong commitment to giving, organizing, and teaching.
She studied at Beis Chana Women’s Seminary in Tzefat, Israel, specializing in Judaic Studies and Education. Her leadership and teaching experience include running a successful Jewish summer camp in Rochester, NY, for two years, and teaching at a Jewish school in Great Neck, NY.
In Ottawa, Sheina plays a central role in shaping community life — from her popular women’s programs and classes, to Shabbat dinners known for their warmth, inspiration, and delicious food. She is a passionate educator, event organizer, and a beloved presence in the Chabad of Wellington West community.
